Last winter, thanks to the financial support of Emploi-Québec, the Compétences VÉ program in automotive mechanics was launched with its five training levels, all set up to provide a safe framework as well as the basic essential skills for our EV technicians of tomorrow.
With the participation of the six joint committees, the CSMO-Auto and more than a dozen vocational training centres, this program will allow apprentices and mechanics in the industry to benefit from standardized training in all regions of Quebec.
At the end of their course, an exam will allow these candidates to obtain their certifications. In addition, mechanical workshops benefiting from the expertise of a certified EV worker will obtain an EV attestation that will place their garage on the electric circuit map ofHydro-Québec.Electric vehicle owners will finally have the possibility to access a list of certified mechanical workshops Compétences VÉ on which they can consult to repair or service their vehicles.
Today, the CPCPA is putting in place two new training components to broaden our vision: EV bodywork as well as heavy hybrid and electric vehicles and buses !
The electric future is already here; our mission is to support the industry in adapting to this inevitable shift.
We invite industry stakeholders to mobilize in order to meet consumers' growing expectations. Awareness of the need for continuous training, for its part, is growing slowly, and the speed at which new technologies evolve requires training aligned with the appropriate skills. The objective is to raise awareness of a crucial stage in the change: Get trained to better adapt!
The challenge is even greater in the sector of manufacturers of heavy hybrid and electric vehicles and buses, which is a rapidly expanding industry in Quebec. The next generation must be on the scale of this new market, which explains the purpose of our mission. With the support of our partners, we hope to reach a workforce throughout the territory.
The Compétences VÉ program is expanding, join us!
