Zero-emission vehicles
Discover the ecosystem, ongoing projects and collaboration opportunities in Quebec.
The zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sector brings together key players in Quebec committed to the electrification of transportation. It aims to accelerate the development, deployment and influence of a competitive industry on a North American scale.
Key points
- A rapidly growing ecosystem
- Major projects currently underway
- Close collaboration between industry, research and institutions
- A strategic positioning in North America
Quebec must continue to distinguish itself as the North American leader in manufacturing 100% electric vehicles, such as school buses, medium and heavy vehicles, and specialized and recreational vehicles.
This priority axis includes all aspects related to the manufacture of zero-emission vehicles (ZEV), as well as managing and converting vehicle fleets, telematics, infrastructure connectivity and environmental intelligence, growing shared mobility solutions, reducing car travel and improving city accessibility, all determining factors of sustainable transport.
OUR VISION
To reduce the growth of vehicle fleets through public transit and shared vehicle fleets, whether cars or trucks.
Ideas supported by Propulsion Québec
- 1
The cluster's priority is above all to enable the electrification of medium and heavy vehicles:
heavy vehicles generate 28% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions related to road transportation in Quebec [1]. We must continue efforts to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles in the transit, school transportation, trucking and specialized vehicle segments.
- 2
Encourage governments to continue their efforts for medium and heavy transport:
a ZEV standard for medium and heavy transport at the provincial and federal level is necessary to continue and accelerate fleet electrification. - 3
Encourage the maintenance and extension of programs to support ZEV acquisition:
the Écocamionnage, Transportez vert and federal programs are essential to democratize access to zero-emission vehicles. - 4
Support all assistance for the manufacturing sector, R&D and the commercialization of innovations:
Quebec has recognized expertise in electric vehicle manufacturing and must continue to support innovation and the development of new technologies.
