My Consumption Profile: data that lets you strategically manage your electricity use
Companies have a critical role to play in the energy transition. Knowing that energy efficiency factors big into profitability, your organization will benefit from strategically managing its electricity use. The key? Your data! Available from your Business Customer Space, the Consumption Profile tool provides you with precious data that can help you develop smart habits and save big.
Harnessing your data to improve performance
Consulting your data is a good place to start—but you still need to know how to use it! Below are six clever features of the Consumption Profile tool.
-
Track your energy use in (almost) real time.
No need to wait to get your bill to get the facts. Your Consumption Profile shows you the electricity you’ve used to date and gives you a forecast for the entire billing period.
-
See your use over time
Did your efforts to cut back during peak periods bear fruit? See your electricity use on an hourly or daily basis. You’ll know if you’re on the right track. Looking for the bigger picture? Get a snapshot of your yearly consumption, represented in dollars or kWh.
-
Compare your usage over one period to the same period the previous year.
The data in your Consumption Profile covers two years. See if your facilities consumed more electricity this year than at the same time last year and get any variations explained.
-
See which factors influence your electricity use.
Weather, new equipment, changes to procedures: all of these can affect your consumption. Your history will show you just how much electricity your business consumed on a given day and what the outside temperature was at that time. You can also check whether your operations on that day had something to do with any fluctuations you see.
-
Check your billing demand.
Regarding billing demand, you can consult the curve to pinpoint when your power demand was at its highest during a given period and understand the cost variations. This will help you determine whether you could better distribute your demand by performing certain activities at other times.
-
Export and analyze your data.
The data in your profile is there to be used. Export any figures you want to study into a spreadsheet and analyze them from the angles that have the most relevance for you.
