Did you know that in Quebec we manufacture all kinds of electric vehicles, ranging from scooters to trains and including recreational and specialized vehicles, buses and trucks? In short, we make everything except cars! This rapidly growing sector will become an essential part of the landscape by 2050 and it’s time to bet on a promising career among many possibilities. If you want to contribute to the mobility of tomorrow but above all to make the planet a greener, more livable world, a career in a sector that develops clean transportation and green mobility is for you.
According to the economic portrait of the sector in Quebec, 150 companies are dedicated to electric and intelligent transportation[i]. The electric and intelligent transportation (EIT) sector includes the entire value chain, from the manufacture of electric and intelligent vehicles, to vehicle design and assembly, to the development of driving software, through the extraction of minerals to make batteries and more. Quebec companies also develop and manufacture charging infrastructure as well as connectivity infrastructure, which will eventually enable the deployment of autonomous (driverless) vehicles. Finally, the sector includes providers of new mobility services (ride-sharing, carsharing, bike-sharing, etc.) as well as commercial fleet operators.
Recruiting qualified workers is one of the factors currently slowing the growth of the EIT sector. Quebec companies need people like you, in various trades, now more than ever, to meet the growing demand that will continue to increase in the coming years.
