BRP will introduce electric models in each of its product lines by the end of 2026

BRP takes a new step into the world of electrification! The Valcourt-based company announced last March its five-year plan as well as its investment of $300 million to offer electric models in each of its existing product lines by the end of 2026. For BRP, the question of electrification has always been when it would happen rather than if it would happen.

This new offering is no small feat. To achieve it, BRP plans to invest $300 million over five years in product development, specialized equipment, infrastructure, production tooling and facilities.

After developing and evaluating several concepts, BRP made the bold decision to design its own Rotax modular electric propulsion technology, which will be deployed across all product lines and will enhance the consumer experience by offering new electric options. Over the years, BRP has produced several battery-electric, hybrid and even fuel cell vehicles. The announcement further highlights BRP's journey in electric vehicles, with a clear vision and concrete plans for the deployment of its electric products.

To support this plan, the BRP Electric Vehicle Development Center will be established in the company's hometown of Valcourt. This facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including multiple test platforms and sophisticated dynamometers, as well as an ultramodern robotic production cell for electric vehicle batteries.

BRP is hiring

BRP is recruiting to fill several positions as the company moves to the next phase of development of its electric propulsion technology. With participation from Quebec, Austria, Finland and the United States, BRP's highly skilled employees from around the world, including hundreds of specialized engineers and technicians, will work together to design and produce electric vehicles at BRP.

In brief

  • BRP will invest $300 million over the next five years to electrify its existing product lines by the end of 2026.
  • The first vehicle will appear on the market within two years, and others will be quickly rolled out across all product lines.
  • BRP is developing its own Rotax modular electric propulsion technology that will be used across all its product lines.
  • The company is creating a Electric Vehicle Development Center in Canada, which will focus mainly on the energy aspect: the charger and the battery pack, including full integration into the vehicle. In Austria, a second development hub will be established, which will focus its efforts on the torque aspect: the inverter and the high-performance electric motor.
  • BRP is actively recruiting to expand its team of experts in the field of electric vehicles.
