Your succession planning goes through Polytechnique — enduring knowledge!

University of Engineering and Sustainable Development

In order to train responsible, engaged and equipped professionals ready to meet society’s needs, Polytechnique Montréal is committed to strengthening the role of sustainable development across all its training programs.

Depending on the courses and programs, students learn about the major cross-cutting issues raised by sustainable development, in particular the social responsibility of the engineer and working in a multidisciplinary context. Concepts such as life cycle analysis, organizational resilience, energy efficiency and alternative energies, and sustainable design and manufacturing are taught.

Future engineers aware of environmental issues

From solar to electric!

There are many committees and technical societies at Polytechnique. Here are two examples of technical societies that bring together true enthusiasts from several engineering disciplines whose shared passion is building prototypes powered by renewable energies.

EstebanSince 1998 this Polytechnique Montréal technical society has stood out for the design and construction of solar vehicles intended to compete in international competitions. This multidisciplinary project helps promote renewable energies around a shared dream: that of a cleaner, healthier energy future worldwide.

Formula Polytechnique Montréal – Founded in 2009, the goal of this technical society is to design and build a single-seat, fully electric SAE Formula car to take part in international competitions. The team was the first from the Americas to participate in the electric SAE Formula world championship in Germany in 2012. With this project, the student committee aims to help train the next generation in transport electrification.

Experiential learning through internships

As part of its major development directions, Polytechnique Montréal aims to place experiential learning at the heart of student education. In addition to student involvement in technical societies and student committees, we are all aware of the added value that an internship experience in a company brings.

At Polytechnique, all bachelor’s students must complete at least one work-term internship, with a maximum of four internships.

If you are a company working in electric and intelligent transportation, a large pool of students from different engineering disciplines is available to support you in your upcoming projects:

  • Civil engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Industrial engineering
  • Computer engineering
  • Software engineering
  • Mechanical engineering

The overall satisfaction rate of internship supervisors with Polytechnique interns is nearly perfect. Employers appreciate the rigor and the quality of deliverables produced by Polytechnique Montréal interns and graduates.

One way to identify your potential candidates is certainly to reach out to the student clientele by participating in the various on-campus activities. Several networking evenings by discipline are currently being organized over the coming weeks.
