B as in beautiful, blue, BIXI: 4 letters that make Montreal a greener city.

When good weather arrives, Montrealers see the BIXI bikes come out of hibernation. These emblematic bikes, like beautiful spring flowers, return to adorn our streets and allow us to get around easily while reducing our ecological footprint. This year, the good weather and the sustained efforts of our teams allowed us to bring forward the opening of the 2021 season to April 9, making it the earliest season start in the history of BIXI!

Behind these metallic gems, recognizable by their bright gray or electric blue frames, are people who are just as brilliant and colorful. The behind-the-scenes craftspeople, geniuses of urban mobility who are driving significant change in active transportation, show unparalleled dedication. Their ideas, execution and know‑how move the non‑profit (NPO) founded in 2014 forward. With nearly 2,000 electric-assist bikes available this season, BIXI is looking to the future and offering citizens, to their great delight, the chance to go faster and farther without relying on a car. At the same time, the NPO offers its employees a playground where work goes hand in hand with enjoyment and well‑being. Building a career at BIXI is not just about working alongside people from all walks of life; it’s also about belonging to a close‑knit, dynamic team committed to doing meaningful work. And that’s very motivating!

When spring comes, the BIXIs appear and spots on our teams do too! From driver positions replacing empty batteries with charged ones on the electric BIXIs, to field technician roles and customer service agent positions, BIXI has something for everyone.

In addition, because of the nature of the activities that create a season usually extending from April 15 to November 15, BIXI is able to offer summer jobs to students by adapting to their summer session (for the more daring who study year‑round) or to their fall session (for those who take it easier in summer). When the season ends, it’s often a simple “See you” rather than a goodbye. Every year, new hires are offered the chance to return to work the following spring. Many take advantage of the winter to recharge, find new passions or work on personal projects, and resume the path to 5945 de Gaspé season after season, as soon as the groundhog pokes its head out.

So, nothing happens at BIXI in winter? Think again! Jobs are not all seasonal. Around forty people make up the permanent team and are on the job 12 months a year, preparing the next season as soon as the previous one ends. They work mainly in the finance, marketing, technology and planning and research departments, where the NPO’s rapid growth continually calls for the creation of new positions. The next generation is taking shape, drawing on the experience of the pioneers, and is more ready than ever to take over and meet any challenges that arise.

Want to develop professionally with us? The BIXI compass allows us to offer a path tailored to each person by equipping the leaders of tomorrow and supporting the founding base. After all, BIXI’s mission is to transform the urban experience through active, accessible, innovative and collaborative mobility, but also to make it easy to get from A to a point B. That applies to your career too!

With us, there’s room for everyone. Find yours and, soon, we’ll tell you B, as in welcome to BIXI!
