The Exobus Program at work: toward a more sustainable and 100% electric future
Pursuing the core principles of its long-term vision entitled "generation exo", the organization is increasingly committed to offering its customers efficient and innovative train, bus and paratransit services.
Several major projects are underway, notably on the bus side with exo mon réseau and its network redesign objectives or with the Exobus Program, the flagship of the gradual electrification of bus services.
In the latter, our teams are actively working to harmonize our practices and optimize our services, while seizing the government-supported electrification opportunity and putting tomorrow’s modes of transport into motion.
In the long term, exo will own its fleet of electric buses, its garages and its charging infrastructure. Transport service providers, meanwhile, will be responsible for maintenance, upkeep and driving of the vehicles.
Phase 1 of the Exobus Program is underway and consists of acquiring around one hundred electric vehicles and constructing two garages to house them by 2027.
With 236 bus lines across a territory made up of 84 municipalities, the project brings its share of operational and technological challenges. To successfully meet its objectives, the transition to electric will first be developed on a small scale in certain areas, to then facilitate deployment across the entire network.
Thus, the two sectors will have the first garages in their territory, namely La Presqu’Île and Sainte-Julie, and then other sectors will gradually follow in subsequent phases.

Over the coming years, exo will develop expertise in transport electrification with the aim of being a key player in the fight against climate change. Exo will also support its suppliers in this electric shift by, among other things, implementing training programs.
