The Montreal metropolitan region is at a turning point in mobility.

To meet the growing challenges of road congestion and climate change, the modal share of public transit must be increased, which is all the more necessary in the area we serve. Created, among other things, to improve service offerings in the suburbs, exo is beginning an exciting stage in its evolution.

Buoyed by the successful consolidation of 14 public transit networks into a single operation and the establishment of the foundations necessary for better integration of its services, exo is set to undergo significant transformation over the coming years.

As everyone knows, the public transit sector is in full swing in the metropolitan region. Major projects, the ARTM’s fare restructuring, new technologies and government directions related to sustainable mobility and transport electrification will change the service landscape. These changes are opportunities to seize to enhance the attractiveness of public transit.

In that spirit, exo has adopted a long-term strategic vision to rethink the services it inherited and improve the experience of its customers while taking advantage of opportunities that will arise to develop mobility better aligned with the needs of the communities served. Called "generation exo," it was presented to our municipal partners as part of a participatory process intended to support the development of the Organizational Strategic Plan (PSO) 2021–2025. The latter takes into account the needs that were expressed by specifying the objectives to be achieved over an initial five-year horizon.

Based on four strategic directions, this ambitious plan is accompanied by measurable targets that take into account the particularities of the territory served, the current context and the medium- and longer-term prospects for public transit. It also presents an assessment of the previous strategic plan and the major achievements of recent years. Exo’s PSO 2021–2025 is part of an effort to contribute to the development of a next-generation mobility culture for the entire community. The objectives are clear, the foundations are in place and exo’s teams are mobilized accordingly. In short, the building of exo continues!
