CyberQuébec is one of the 59 College Centers for Technology Transfer (CCTT) in the Synchronex network. Affiliated with theCégep de l’Outaouais, CyberQuébec offers a wide range of services in the field of cybersecurity. The centre offers, in particular, training to support the development of specialized technical manpower and technological support to SMEs to help them meet the challenges of digital security. It also provides organizations and businesses with various financing levers for innovation and applied research projects in cybersecurity. Think, in particular, of the Industrial Research Assistance Program of the National Research Council of Canada, theMy Digital Success of the Synchronex network and the College and Community Innovation Program of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
To support its research, training and business assistance activities, the team ofCyberQuébec has established a cloud laboratory whose commissioning was made possible thanks to financial assistance from Economic Development Canada for the regions of Quebec. The technologies that power this cutting-edge digital infrastructure are similar to those of commercial cloud services such as Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. The ability to create and deploy on-demand IT services in a controlled and secure environment offers, forCyberQuébec and its partners, interesting opportunities for hands-on teaching and research and development in IT and cybersecurity.
The virtualization platform of CyberQuébec’s cloud laboratory is a valuable tool for both educational and research institutions and for businesses. It allows the creation of virtual machines and computer networks that are richer and more complex than what is generally offered on traditional techno-pedagogical platforms such as TryHackMe or Hack The Box. The« Cyber Range » of the laboratory, or cyber practice field in French, is currently being trialed and is the subject of a pilot project carried out in collaboration with the Fédération des cégeps. Several computer science teachers and information technology experts from the college network will participate in it in fall–winter 2022–2023. CyberQuébec’s training team also uses the platform to run the activities of the ECHO club, the Cégep de l’Outaouais student ethical hacking club.

Ultimately, the Cégep de l’Outaouais – CyberQuébec cloud laboratory will enable a wide range of technological and educational activities. Among others: practical simulation and assessment activities for computer networks, the study of malware, the development of detection and response models in cybersecurity, planning migration to the cloud and the development of specialized technical training in French.
Individuals, companies or organizations interested in learning more about the cloud laboratory and CyberQuébec’s services are invited to follow us onLinkedIn, to visit ourwebsite or to contact us atinfo@cyberquebec.org.
