Propulsion Québec finalizes Quebec's first comprehensive guide dedicated to the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty trucks

PRESS RELEASE

Montreal, May 12, 2026 – Propulsion Québec, the cluster for electric and intelligent transportation, is finalizing its Electric Trucking Guide to support trucking companies in their transition to electrification. As freight transport produces nearly 23.8[1] % of global CO₂ emissions, decarbonizing this sector is an essential lever to accelerate the transition.

A practical guide to take action

Electrifying truck fleets is now a necessity for companies seeking to meet the environmental, economic and social challenges of the 21st century.

This guide is the result of a collaborative effort bringing together pioneering companies, technical experts and field actors, and a consultation among members of Propulsion Québec's electric truck operators committee. It aims to directly address the main barriers identified by the sector, notably the lack of information, operational uncertainties and the complexity of costs related to electrification.

Thanks to the testimonies of experts and organizations committed to decarbonizing their activities, including Les Emballages Carrousel, GLS Canada, Groupe Robert, Location Brossard and Nationex, this guide serves as a reference to help decision-makers begin or accelerate their initiatives and to create a solid knowledge base on the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty trucks. It is organized into a comprehensive series of practical fact sheets covering all dimensions of the transition: planning the electrification of a medium- and heavy-duty truck fleet, impacts on logistics and operations, human resources management, analysis of acquisition and operating costs, deployment of charging infrastructure and maintenance.

« To effectively decarbonize freight transport, we need solutions that can be applied on the ground. This guide equips stakeholders to take action, with ambition, while taking into account operational realities and market requirements. »
— Alexis Laprès-Paradis, President and Chief Executive Officer, Propulsion Québec
