Propulsion Québec begins its Quebec tour in Estrie

Montreal, November 28, 2019 — As the Government of Quebec recently completed its public consultations to develop the next Electrification and Climate Change Plan, Propulsion Québec, the electric and intelligent transportation cluster, is beginning its Quebec Tour to discuss business opportunities arising from the proliferation of electric and intelligent transportation and to raise awareness among the region’s economic stakeholders about the broad transformation underway in the transportation sector, here and elsewhere in the world. The cluster invites companies and investors that are not in the sector to seize this opportunity.

Quotes

« The future of mobility lies in connected, autonomous, shared and electric vehicles. This transformation of the transportation sector represents a golden opportunity for sustainable economic development for Quebec and its regions in addition to being a strategic arena essential for achieving significant advances in the fight against climate change. This promising niche offers economic actors an extraordinary opportunity to support local companies, » said Sarah Houde, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec, the electric and intelligent transportation cluster.

« In Quebec we have a vibrant ecosystem in electric and intelligent transportation: innovative companies create and manufacture shuttles, buses, outdoor maintenance vehicles, snowmobiles, garbage or urban delivery trucks. Many of them already assert their leadership on the global stage. Through this tour, we want to make known the players, big and small, who are actively participating in the inevitable transformation of the transportation market and to present the opportunities offered by this growing industry, » she continued.

« Around the world, countries and cities are setting targets to reduce the number of combustion vehicles on the roads as well as deadlines after which electric transport will, strictly speaking, become the norm. Our companies know this and are deploying their expertise and creativity to establish themselves in this promising field of the future while stimulating the economy of the regions where they set up, » she concluded.

The event taking place today in Sherbrooke is organized with the support of the Université de Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke Innopole, BRP, Centre des Technologies Avancées –CTA- BRP and IVÉO. Propulsion Québec’s Quebec Tour will include stops in Quebec City, Shawinigan and Longueuil, cities recognized for the dynamism of their innovative companies.
