Quebec, June 28, 2022— Propulsion Québec, the electric and intelligent transportation cluster (TEI), has set upTransporteur+, a technical guide on the electrification of Quebec school buses to successfully carry out the transition of Quebec school bus operators' fleets. The completion of this guide strengthens Propulsion Québec's position as a key player in accelerating the electrification of transportation, supporting stakeholders in the shift to electric, and promoting the ecological transition of Quebec's economy.
This technical guide presents all the relevant information to begin electrifying school bus fleets: a review of electric bus technologies and their charging systems, their future developments, and concrete actions for carriers to approach this technological shift by 2025. Its objective is to demystify the work to be planned for the transition, identify the operational requirements of the technology, and provide solutions to meet them.
This guide is primarily intended for small and medium school bus operators (up to 50 buses), who will find the initial steps to accomplish their energy transition.
Quotes
"In the spring of 2021, the government of Quebec announced the establishment of the new school transportation electrification program, with the ambition of electrifying 65% of Quebec's school bus fleet in order to meet the objectives of the 2030 Plan for a Green Economy. It is to respond to this need that we developed the Transporteur+ guide. In addition, this is a concrete action that responds to one of the eight themes of the Ambition TEI 2030 industrial roadmap: leading the effort to transition electric vehicles in North America. Together, let's make Quebec a world leader in electric and intelligent transportation!", saidSarah Houde, President and Chief Executive Officer of Propulsion Québec.
"The Trottier Family Foundation is proud to be able to contribute to the rollout of school bus electrification in Quebec by supporting the creation of this guide. We are convinced that this roadmap, intended as a practical and accessible tool, will contribute not only to achieving the ambitious electrification targets for Quebec's school bus fleet, but also to meeting our climate goals", saidÉric St-Pierre, Executive Director at the Trottier Family Foundation.
