Propulsion Québec announces the creation of the Camionnage Zéro Émission community of interest to find concrete solutions to accelerate the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, chaired by Anthony Mainville, President of AttriX, Geotab Partner.
Leading the EV transition effort in North America is a strategic theme of Ambition TEI 2030, Quebec’s industrial policy for electric and intelligent transportation. In 2019, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles alone were responsible for 68.8%1 of road transport–related emissions, making it a key topic for discussion and action in the months to come.
If the electrification of light vehicles continues to advance, that of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles should become one of the next flagships for our ecosystem and governments. Several barriers have been identified:
- The substantial expenditures already invested in conventional vehicles,
- The lack of charging infrastructure,
- The lack of range for long trips,
- The costs incurred in converting a vehicle,
- The new management of an electric vehicle fleet.
Propulsion Québec wishes to lead a joint reflection with its members and influential stakeholders on this subject and to contribute concrete solutions to address the barriers to electrifying medium- and heavy-duty vehicles in Quebec through the launch of the Camionnage Zéro Émission community of interest.
Anthony Mainville, President of AttriX, Geotab Partner, will serve as chair of the community of interest (CI) and will contribute, through his knowledge of the sector and ecosystem, to the analysis of initiatives, the mobilization of members, the identification of the CI’s priorities and its deployment.
Together, the Chair of this CI and the members of the Community of Interest will define the priority areas to implement to accelerate the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
