Propulsion Québec applauds Québecor's commitment and highlights its leadership in transport electrification.

At the start of 2020, Québecor is launching its action plan aimed at accelerating the electrification of its vehicle fleet, which already includes nearly 30 electric cars, in order to effectively combat climate change. Committed for several years to environmental preservation, Québecor is now pursuing one of the most ambitious goals for a company in Canada given the size and diversity of the vehicle fleets held by its various subsidiaries.

"Propulsion Québec is proud to count among its members a bold company like Québecor, whose environmental practices have been exemplary for many years. With this plan, Québecor confirms its status as a leader in sustainable development in Quebec and in Canada. Electrifying transportation at the fleet level makes it possible to have a significant impact on our collective carbon footprint," explains Sarah Houde, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec.

Québecor's transportation electrification plan will ultimately cover 1,100 vehicles and will center on the purchase of electric/hybrid cars and the conversion of the gasoline engines of its light trucks to electric motors.

This objective will be achieved through the purchase of new vehicles combined with converting the gasoline engines of the current fleet's light trucks. These will be converted using a wholly Quebec-developed technology from Ecotuned Automobile, a member of Propulsion Québec. Once this initial objective is reached, the company will reduce its GHG emissions by 50%. The other Québecor subsidiaries that own vehicle fleets will also be integral parts of the electrification plan in subsequent phases.

Propulsion Québec can only applaud this remarkable commitment, underline its importance, and hope that it will inspire many companies both at home and elsewhere.
