In brief:

⚡️ Lead the implementation of the Net-Zero Accelerator initiative.

⛏️ Support the “Mines to Mobility” strategy by attracting anchor investments in key areas such as mineral processing, cell manufacturing, and zero-emission vehicle parts.

🔋 Work with the Minister of Natural Resources to launch a Canadian critical minerals strategy to supply the green and digitized economy and to improve the resilience of the critical minerals supply chain in collaboration with major trading partners, in order to position Canada as the leading mining nation.

Mandate letter addressed to Minister Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change

In brief:

⚡️ Implement the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act.

🚛 Work with industry, unions and other stakeholders to develop a regulated sales mandate under which at least 50% of all new light-duty vehicle sales will be zero-emission vehicles in 2030, as an interim step toward achieving Canada’s mandatory target of 100% by 2035, and a regulated sales mandate under which 100% of medium- and heavy-duty vehicle sales will be zero-emission by 2040, where feasible.

🟢 By the end of March 2022, present an updated emissions reduction plan.

🤝 Support the Minister of Industry in implementing the Net-Zero Accelerator initiative.

💡 Introduce a clean electricity standard to achieve a clean electricity grid by 2035.
