The City of Montreal took advantage of the Impulsion MTL Forum to announce the acquisition of 18 fully electric Madvac sweeper carts manufactured by Exprolink, a Longueuil company and member of Propulsion Québec. At the same time, the City officially handed over the keys to three of these electric sweeper carts to representatives of the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (NYCDCAS). This loan to the American metropolis, which will span a four-month period, offers an exceptional showcase for Quebec’s innovative companies beyond our borders.
The City of Montreal aims to be a model in North America in terms of transport electrification. In this perspective, it shares its experiences and best practices with other cities engaged in a similar transition. In addition, it lends fully electric prototypes to other North American cities. The City has been involved since 2007 in such a partnership with the City of New York.
Since 2016, 210 fully electric vehicles have been acquired by the City of Montreal, which corresponds to a conversion rate of 84% relative to the target set in its electrification strategy.
Other notable announcements

Shortly before the Forum’s opening ceremony, Boivin Évolution and Compagnie Électrique Lion unveiled the world’s first 100% electric waste collection truck, the result of an excellent collaboration between these two Quebec companies. Also, at the start of the second day, Letenda, based in Longueuil, announced that it is working on developing a new generation of electric city buses specifically designed for Quebec winters.
IMPULSION MTL brought together more than 300 participants from 20 North American cities to discuss the challenges of managing the vehicle fleets of tomorrow. Issues related to transport electrification were at the heart of the discussions.
