Montreal, October 3, 2019 –Propulsion Québec held a political debate this morning about the future of electric and intelligent transportation. Representatives of the main federal political parties were invited to share their vision regarding the development of this promising sector. The event was held in Montreal at the offices of our partner, Langlois avocats, in front of an audience made up of representatives of Quebec’s electric and intelligent transportation ecosystem.
Mr. Barthélémy Boisguérin, NDP candidate in Saint-Maurice–Champlain, Mr. Jean Désy, Green Party candidate in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Mr. Michael Forian, Conservative Party of Canada candidate in Ville-Marie–Le Sud-Ouest–Îles-des-Sœurs, and Mr. Simon-Pierre Savard-Tremblay, Bloc Québécois candidate in the riding of Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot took part in this exercise. The Liberal Party of Canada declined Propulsion Québec’s invitation.
During the debate, the candidates answered about a dozen questions regarding, among other things, the criteria for public tenders related to electric and intelligent transportation, the role this sector plays in the fight against climate change, the adaptation of regulations and the provinces’ preparation for the arrival of autonomous vehicles, and government support for the ecological transition for individuals and businesses.

"Our decision-makers have a role to play in supporting the electric and intelligent transportation industry, notably by creating a regulatory environment and putting in place financial support measures to foster the emergence and consolidation of this promising sector. We are pleased to see that the future of electric and intelligent transportation has generated interest among the federal parties and members of our ecosystem. The commitments made on both sides in support of our industry make us optimistic about what lies ahead" – Sarah Houde, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec.
