Impacts on the zero-emission transport ecosystem

Over the past few months, Propulsion Québec has been conducting surveys to better understand the impact of tariffs on the ecosystem and companies in the zero-emission ground transportation sector.

  • 57% of companies in the sector export to the United States;
  • 95% of companies have manufacturing inputs from the United States;
  • 83% of companies are concerned about the impact of tariffs on their business. The main expected impacts are reduces sales, postponed or cancelled investments, loss or reduction of contracts with US customers, and reduced competitiveness on the US merket (February 2025);
  • 37% believe that tariffs on steel and aluminum will have a major moderate impact on their business.

” The automotive industry, including zero-emission vehicles, is highly integrated, and Canada and the United States would benefit from continuing to build on a North American value chain. Our shared economic and national security depends on it. We must continue our efforts to ensure a reliable supply of strategic components.”
