Impacts on the zero-emission transport ecosystem
Over the past few months, Propulsion Québec has been conducting surveys to better understand the impact of tariffs on the ecosystem and companies in the zero-emission ground transportation sector.
- 57% of companies in the sector export to the United States;
- 95% of companies have inputs from the United States;
- 83% of companies are concerned about the impact of tariffs on their business. The main expected impacts are reduced sales, postponed or cancelled investments, loss or reduction of contracts with US customers, and reduced competitiveness on the US market (February 2025);
- 37% believe that the steel and aluminum tariffs will have a major or moderate impact on their business.
"The automotive industry, including zero-emission vehicles, is highly integrated, and Canada and the United States have every interest in continuing to build on a North American value chain. Our shared economic and national security is at stake. We must continue our efforts to ensure a reliable supply of strategic components."
Explains Michelle Llambías Meunier, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec.
