Montreal, June 3, 2019 – ADM Aéroports de Montréal and Taxelco today committed to accelerating the electrification of their vehicle fleets by joining the EV100 initiative. The announcement was made at a reception held as part of IMPULSION MTL, an international forum organized by Propulsion Québec that is currently taking place at the Science Centre.
Launched in 2017 by the international non-governmental organization The Climate Group, the EV100 initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles within companies, with a target horizon of 2030.
ADM has committed to increasing the share of its light vehicles that are electric to 100% by 2030. Currently, 12 of the 69 vehicles in its fleet are electric. In addition, more than half of its heavy vehicles are expected to be electrified within the same timeframe. ADM also plans to expand its charging infrastructure for both travelers and employees at YUL Montréal‑Trudeau International Airport. These actions are part of the organization’s strategic objectives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
For its part, Taxelco, which carries out nearly one third of taxi trips in Montreal, is committed to converting 1,500 vehicles in its taxi fleet by 2030. The company, which operates Taxi Diamond and Taxi Hochelaga, will also collaborate on the installation of charging sites in the areas designated for its vehicles. Taxelco thus hopes to help accelerate the taxi industry's transition and to set an example in the electrification of transportation.

“ADM is committed and determined to reduce the environmental impacts of the operations at YUL and YMX. Electrifying our vehicle fleet represents an effective and sustainable solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We are very proud to join this global initiative and thereby accelerate the adoption of clean vehicles,” said Mr. Martin Massé, Vice‑President, Public Affairs at ADM.
“Over its three years of operation, Téo Taxi’s small electric fleet has driven 25 million kilometres, thereby avoiding the emission of 5,224 tonnes of greenhouse gases in Montreal. Given that Quebec is fortunate to be able to rely on a resource like hydroelectricity, choosing, as a society, to electrify our transportation is choosing to make a difference for the environment and to have a lasting impact on our ecological footprint. Proud of its membership in EV100, Taxelco’s team intends to continue its commitment to the electrification of transportation with determination,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, the new owner of Taxelco.
“Acting on the vehicles that spend their days on the roads is a key way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are delighted to see companies of the size of Taxelco and ADM commit so resolutely to a large‑scale electrification of their vehicles. This necessary shift is underway among cities, crown corporations and companies, and around the world. Our Quebec ecosystem in electric and autonomous transportation has the know‑how and the ambition to accompany this transformation of the transport sector and to support the stakeholders who, like the companies that committed today to the EV100 initiative, want,” said Sarah Houde, President and Chief Executive Officer of Propulsion Québec, Quebec’s cluster for electric and intelligent transportation.
“The Government of Quebec is pleased to see Quebec companies join the ranks of the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative, which brings together the most ambitious private‑sector actors in the world in terms of electrifying their vehicle fleets. Through their commitment and ambition, these Quebec companies concretely demonstrate the multiple benefits associated with electrifying our economy and serve as models to follow for all Quebec fleet managers,” stated Benoît Charette, Minister of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change.
“By joining the EV100 initiative, companies send a powerful message: electric transport should be at the heart of any corporate strategy. Transportation accounts for a quarter of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions, and these national leaders know that electrifying their fleets is a key factor in the fight against climate change. Quebec’s electric vehicle policies are also helping them do it more quickly,” explained Sandra Roling, head of the EV100 initiative at the NGO The Climate Group.
