Propulsion Québec participated in the major annual gathering of technology and electronics, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in early January.
This major international trade show, which featured 4,500 exhibitors, more than 1,000 speakers and welcomed over 180,000 participants, is a must on the annual calendar of international gatherings bringing together cutting-edge technology companies.
The Quebec delegation was once again led by the Export Québec team. The notable presence of the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Pierre Fitzgibbon, throughout the event was exceptional. Propulsion Québec took the opportunity to present the Quebec ecosystem of electric and intelligent transportation and to discuss the main challenges and priorities guiding the cluster's activities.
Many automakers and other suppliers participated in this year's event to showcase their innovations in autonomous vehicles and other driver-assistance technologies. The 2019 edition was therefore particularly marked by the presence of several manufacturers of autonomous electric shuttles that we had the chance to meet, such as Local Motors, Navya, EasyMile, May Mobility, and the Milla group, which has just launched the MILLA POD shuttle, an autonomous vehicle whose battery was designed in partnership with the Centre de technologies avancées (CTA) at the Université de Sherbrooke.
Thus, CES was once again an unparalleled networking opportunity for Propulsion Québec and for the member companies that were present:Bombardier Transportation; Economic Development of the Longueuil Agglomeration (DEL); Immervision; INO; Jakarto; LeddarTech; M2S Électronique; Phantom Intelligence; PMG Technologies; Recyclage Lithion.
Special mentions to Phantom Intelligence and Recyclage Lithion, which respectively received the award for best 'pitch' in the mobility category, awarded by the Village Francophone of CES 2019, and the Energy category award given by10,000 Startups to Change the World Prize, an initiative of La Tribune and BNP Paribas, which took place on the sidelines of CES.
