Description
Electromechanics maintain, test, refurbish, and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical devices. They are knowledgeable in a range of fields because they need to combine electrical engineering principles with mechanics. Examples of tasks and responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical components in vehicles
- Carry out mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs
- Use technical diagnostic tools
- Draw up and distribute maintenance traceability documents (service sheets, time sheets, etc.) within the required timeframes
- Conduct road tests and make any necessary adjustments
- Perform mechanical assembly and setup of test benches according to blueprints and work instructions
Required skills
- Firm grounding in one or more maintenance disciplines: electrical engineering, electronics, and mechanics
- Ability to use computer tools (e.g., TestStand and LabVIEW from National Instruments)
- Rigorous and methodical approach
