Quebec government economic update | Electric and Intelligent Transportation (EIT) sector expectations persist

Montréal, November 7, 2023- The Quebec government today unveiled its economic update, highlighting a series of measures for the province's economic development. Propulsion Québec, the electric and intelligent transportation industry cluster, sees initiatives that could be applied to its sector to further Quebec's economic growth and lower GHG emissions.

Despite the progress made, Michelle LLambias-Meunier, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec, would like to see the electric and intelligent transport sector, which already accounts for over 9,300 jobs in 2021, included in the priority training programs.

"We are convinced that the electric and intelligent transport sector represents a significant value chain for the economy and the environment in Quebec. It is essential that it be considered a priority in efforts to meet companies' workforce needs.

"Furthermore, despite the difficult economic climate, we welcome measures to support business investment. In the context of the IRA, innovation funding and tax credit measures will help to strengthen business competitiveness, stimulate innovation and encourage job growth in this constantly evolving field. "added Michelle LLambias-Meunier, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec.

Finally, Propulsion Québec fully supports the budget allocated to public transit. Investment in public transit, particularly in the context of the transition to more sustainable solutions, is an essential step in reducing the carbon footprint and improving the quality of life of Quebecers.
