INO : A major asset for the industry!

Published on 24 May 2019 INO Article

The intelligent and electric transportation industry is booming.

Companies involved are facing technological trends that evolve at a rapid pace and must be one move ahead of their competitors.

INO is a unique optics-photonics research center in Canada and stands as a partner in supporting its clients’ innovation. With an established expertise in cameras, sensors and LIDAR technology that is second to none, we design complete and customized solutions. From consulting to design, through the development and production of short series, our goal is to provide lasting solutions to your challenges.

Active players in mobility and transportation are part of INO’s history and clientele. Over time, INO has solved complex problems encountered by several Quebec organizations including Quebec’s ministère des Transports and companies such as Leddartech and Pavemetrics, arose from INO’s technologies.

Leddartech, a dominant player on the market with its platform for Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD), was born in 2007 from a solid-state LIDAR technology developed at INO. The company has since been the source of many innovations in the field of remote sensing applications for cars, trucks, buses, delivery vehicles, robotaxis and shuttles.

About Pavemetrics, the company was founded in 2009 with digital vision systems designed at INO. It sells high-precision measuring instruments on the five continents, for the inspection of pavement, generating a 3D rendering within a millimeter of accuracy. The data thus generated enables cities, large transport agencies and airport operators to know more about the condition of their transport infrastructure, prioritize their interventions, and increase safety.

Driven by its mission, INO handles a unique role in the country by presenting itself to the market as an incubator, an accelerator and an extension of the R&D means of the players in the mobility ecosystem. Whether it is to design sensors dedicated to assist and increase the driver’s visual acuity capabilities, communicating with the vehicle for its autonomy and more safety or placed inside vehicles to observe the driver, passengers or merchandise, INO can innovate with and for you.
