On November 4th, the Port of Montreal will welcome members of Propulsion Québec for an event focused on the electrification of its operations. You will gain insight into how this nearly 17-kilometre-long site operates, the progress of its energy transition, and the resulting business opportunities for Québec companies in the electric and smart transportation (EST) sector, particularly in equipment, charging infrastructure, and energy management.
Why the Port of Montreal ?
As the largest container port in Eastern Canada, the Port of Montreal handled 34.3 million metric tons of cargo in 2025. Located at the heart of the St. Lawrence-Great Lakes corridor, it connects maritime, rail, and road networks. The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) builds and maintains the infrastructure there, which is then operated by private companies.
To reduce the carbon footprint of this ecosystem, the MPA relies on its 2050 Decarbonization Plan, which is structured around six major focus areas. The first, 'A Decarbonized Port Ecosystem,' establishes electrification as one of the key levers of this transition 1.
In practical terms, this approach involves, the electrification of material-handling equipment and vehicle fleets, as well as the deployment of charging infrastructure. At the port level, these transformations represent a major undertaking. The MPA has reduced its own emissions by 30% since 2007 2.
Why attend ?
Understand the situation on the ground before making any suggestions. The port operates according to its own unique organizational structure. Make sure you leave knowing how roles are divided, what the current status of electrification is, and who to contact based on your proposal.
Position your business to meet emerging needs. Material-handling equipment, charging infrastructure, energy management, and digital tools: the port’s transition is impacting several market segments where Quebec-based EST companies have a role to play.
Network in an exclusive setting. Tickets are limited. This allows time for meaningful conversations with the port’s teams and with other members working on the same issues.
