Director of Transportation Electrification, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Sustainability Office

Michael Samulon runs transportation electrification efforts and building efficiency and renewables demonstration projects for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Sustainability Office. His focus is on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution through electrification to ultimately reach a zero carbon transportation sector. He has overseen the deployment of over 800 electric vehicles in the City fleet, public EV charging infrastructure throughout Los Angeles, and runs a monthly EV Task Force. Michael is also working on long term infrastructure planning with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, LA Metro, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and the Port of Los Angeles in anticipation of a fully electrified bus fleet and goods movement sector. Prior to joining the Office of Mayor Garcetti, Michael worked as a researcher at UCLA’s Luskin Center for Innovation, focusing on community solar and the economic impacts of the building energy efficiency sector.
