Engineer, Electric vehicles and charging

General description

System engineers lead, plan, and organize development activities for high-power products such as integrated electrified powertrain and vehicle systems. They are responsible for supporting clients in vehicle development. System engineers also help with the development of system architecture and the creation of simulation models from start to finish, up to the commissioning of innovative electric vehicle prototypes. Examples of tasks and responsibilities

  • Design system architecture
  • Develop systems, subsystems, and complete components for electric vehicles
  • Lead all vehicle-related level system tasks with a team of experienced professionals
  • At each stage of development, work closely with other departments to determine the technical requirements of the systems
  • Develop internal system test benches that replicate the vehicle environment for system verification and root cause analysis of any problems
  • Work closely with the validation team to identify test cases at the component, system, and vehicle level and ensure that each requirement can be tested and traced
  • Work with the vehicle integration team to ensure instruments are integrated into vehicle or system benches and function as designed
  • Maintain system paperwork (specifications, technical data, requirements, etc.)

Required skills

  • Ability to program data acquisition systems and perform database calculations
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry, electric vehicles, or powertrains
  • Knowledge of software and control systems
  • Extensive knowledge of electrodynamic systems
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask on projects and assignments
  • Ability to discuss technical concepts fluently in written and spoken English
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Membership in (or eligibility for) Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
